POSITION SUMMARY:

The Port Facility Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the Private Destination. The Port Facility Security Guard will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our Team members, Visitors, and property. This role focuses on Guests, Team Members, and Visitors’ safety and responds to any emergency. The Port Facility Security Guard will assist with the security and surveillance of Guests, Team Members, Visitors, equipment, and systems to ensure safety at the Destination. This position leads by example and requires exemplary organization, attention to detail, excellent Guest and Team Member engagement, and product and service standards knowledge. The Port Facility Security Guard must have a high integrity, be professional in manner and communication, and meticulous in their work with the ability to apply critical thinking to identify risks and determine appropriate action. This position reports to the Assistant Port Facility Security Officer (APFSO) and assists in implementing and running the Destination Security Plan to ensure a secure environment.

All duties and responsibilities are performed following Royal Caribbean International’s Brand Standards, the Royal Way philosophy, Company policies, and SOPs, Public Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental Guidelines.

This Job Description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties performed by the Destination Team Member occupying this position. All Team Members may be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their Supervisor or Management. The nature of this job requires daily interactions with internal and external stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Establishes the visibility of Security through patrolling indoor and outdoor areas.
• Enforces and consistently follows security policies and procedures to maintain a safe and secure environment.
• Monitors surveillance cameras and alarm systems, detects and/or prevents suspicious activity through monitoring CCTV surveillance 24/7. Implements the appropriate action when needed.
• Monitors and is responsible for the main entrance (Wishing Well) operations.
• Reports and responds to any suspicious activity around the Destination.
• Interacts with Guests to ensure their security and compliance with company standards of conduct.
• Responds promptly and effectively to calls for assistance taking appropriate actions to mitigate risk and seeks assistance if needed as per the situation.
• Determines the situation and the appropriate action to uphold the Security of the destination. Ability to adapt to evolving circumstances and follow security protocols.
Responds immediately to the location of a fire alarm. Ability to make quick decisions based on destination protocols and experience. Reports any situation to the emergency team.
• Demonstrates effective communication, conflict resolution skills, and de-escalation techniques. When necessary, can utilize physical control and restraint techniques, to control escalating or dangerous situations.
• Assists with Guests/Team Member incidents and/or investigations.
• Participates in training and drills and performs other security-related duties to enhance the Guest experience.
• Administers access control for Team Member sign on/off, visitors (Day Visitors & Overnight visitors), vendors, and contractor (ISD / BEG / Ops Contractor) to and from the destination.
• Coordinates transportation both ground and boat for Team Member sign on/off.
• Assists with crowd control when the Ship is port, such as, on arrival, departure, inclement weather situations, or when assigned.
• Follows the established departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with ISPS regulations.
• Follows local port regulations and protocols. Inspects the main entrance (Wishing Well) during operations and nonship days.
• Screens personal items of Team Members, Contractors, Visitors, and Vendors upon arrival and departure.
• Acknowledges and greets Guests, Visitors, and Team Members in public spaces with a warm, friendly greeting. Assists with directions, and information as needed.
• Maintains the continuous updating of clear and concise handover notes to eliminate any possible miscommunication that compromises the efficiency of set processes.
• Maintains vigilance and responds to any emergency. Maintains knowledge of the use and the location of all safetyrelated equipment as outlined on the emergency plan.
• Implements quiet hours at Night as per policy.
• Writes detailed incident reports and maintains accurate records.
• Collaborates seamlessly with Security Team members, Supervisors, and relevant departments to maintain a cohesive and proactive security operation.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Investigates theft in compliance with the investigation policy and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A High School Diploma is required. Valid driving license.
• Three (3) years of progressive experience in at least one of the following areas: army, maritime, aviation, police, or hotel security environment, with the ability to function in a multicultural corporate environment.
• Prior experience working in a Security department onboard a ship or a land-based Destination is an advantage.
• Training or experience in counterterrorism and physical security which includes access control including anti-terrorist countermeasures, security screening methods, and equipment operation (x-ray, metal detector, weapons, explosives, and narcotics detection).
• Strong communication skills, conflict resolution abilities, incident command, including first responder, scene and evidence preservation, investigation, interview, and documentation.
• Appropriate enforcement skills, including appropriate detention and physical search procedures.
• Knowledge of ISPS rules and regulations.
• Ability to navigate within the Internet, Security systems, CCTV, MS Office, is required.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills, and attention to detail. Ability to work under stress and tight deadlines. • Ability to work in a multi-national environment.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with Guests, Team Members, Contractors, and Vendors.
• Ability to read and write English, to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from Guests, Managers, and Team Members.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste and smell. The Team Member must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• All Destination Team Members must be physically able to participate in emergency life-saving procedures and drills. Full use/range of motion of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal, and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Outdoor environment where high temperature, precipitation, and humid temperatures are experienced.
• While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is required to work outdoors in extremely humid and hot conditions for an extended time, walking in sand and uneven surfaces.
