Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the pharmacist in ensuring that Lowe’s delivers outstanding pharmacy services to meet and exceed customer expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receives and verifies prescriptions.
  • Prepares medication for customers through mixing, measuring, and counting pills.
  • Ensures that containers are properly labeled.
  • Confirms price of prescription and obtains approval from pharmacist before dispensing to the patient.
  • Verifies insurance coverage and completes patient documentation.
  • Assists with stocktaking of dispensary.
  • Assists the retail staff as needed.
  • Maintains an awareness of the latest medications and their availability.
  • Keeps up to date with current pharmacy practices through approved continuing education programs.
  • Attends at least six monthly meetings of the Bahamas Pharmacy Association (BPA).
  • Keeps appropriate records relating to the discharge of his/her responsibilities.
  • Executes any other reasonable duty assigned by management.
  • Organizational Relationships

    This position reports to the Pharmacist and indirectly to the Pharmacy Operations Manager. He/she interfaces regularly with retail, sales, and accounts staff.

    Requirements - Education and Experience

    The Pharmacy Technician should possess at least a high school diploma and certification as a pharmacy technician along with two years’ work experience. Basic understanding of the retail pharmacy business is desirable. He/she must have a professional demeanor, be multi-task oriented with good communication and interpersonal skills. He/she should be a self-motivated team player proficient in basic computer applications.

    Physical and Emotional Demands

    He/she must have the physical ability and emotional intelligence to perform the essential functions and responsibilities of the job. This is a demanding position that requires a flexible schedule and dealing with difficult personalities and conflicts while maintaining a consistently professional and calm demeanor.
