Under the supervision of the Quality Manager, and with direction from the AVP of Quality, the Quality and Standards Lead Nurse will serve to support DHHS’ culture of safety and reliability.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with maintaining compliance with regulatory standards for agencies such as Joint Commission International, College of American Pathology, etc.
  • Assist with action planning processes related to regulatory standards for agencies such as Joint Commission International, College of American Pathology, etc.
  • Conduct audits of clinical care provided to inpatients and outpatients by reviewing electronic medical records, conducting interviews and by visiting the patient care environment.
  • Provide a written summary of findings based on assessments and observations conducted.
  • In conjunction with key stakeholders such as the Risk Manager, participate with the process of analyses: Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode Effect Analysis and Hazard Vulnerability Analysis, Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) performance improvement action planning etc.
  • Conduct surveillance rounds for identification, mitigation and prevention of Safety risks.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of educational initiatives in conjunction with Risk Management, Medical Staff Office, Patient Care Services, Human Resources, or other department/partnership regarding Quality and Safety in the form of presentations or in-person interaction.


Required Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) current licensure recommended.
  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or related field from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of three years experience in healthcare.
  • Intermediate to advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office software suite (Excel, Word)
  • Training in process improvement, patient safety, Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) are preferred.
  • Competency in evidence-based performance improvement processes such as TeamSTEPPS, Lean, Six Sigma or others are preferred.
