JOB DESCRIPTION
Reports to the Island Manager

SUMMARY

We seek to hire an experienced licensed Boat Captain. This is a full-time live-in position, with flexibility to work weekends as needed. The chosen candidates should be poised, polished, and professional with extensive experience working with individuals/clients.

JOB DESCRIPTION
• Maintain Water Vessel (2001- 31’ Jupiter – Twin Engine/Suzuki Passenger boat)
• Maintain Safety equipment (lifejackets, first aid kits, etc.)
• Safely Steer and operate vessel using equipment such as radar, depth finders, radios, buoys, and lights.
• Track and alter navigation plans based on local weather conditions to keep vessel, passengers and cargo safe.
• Inspect the boat to ensure efficient and safe operation of vessel, equipment and their conformity to regulations.
• Read gauges to ensure safe levels of hydraulic fluid and oxygen or air pressure.
• Compute positions, set courses and determine speeds using charts, compasses, sextants and area plotting sheets.
• Safely driving passengers to and from general destinations, assisting with luggage and packages and heavy lifting.
• Maintain vessels cleanliness including cleaning the interior, checking for engine oil inspection, legal registrations, insurance upkeep, etc.
• Availability to work the day or night shift based on the need. Flexibility with schedule; able to work long hours as needed.
• Able to multi-task, think quickly and respond effectively in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS AND EDUCATION
• Valid Boat Captain License
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a captain
• Demonstrated experience operating vessels, possesses good judgement and high level of attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational and planning abilities
• Exemplary knowledge of marine craft communication, signaling, navigation systems and radio operations
• Ability to identify and perform maintenance and repairs necessary.
• Excellent references from both current and previous employers
• Ability to always maintain confidentiality and discretion.
• Regularly communicate and collaborate with management staff and the service team. Be proactive and emotionally intelligent.
• Ability to learn and use smart phone and all apps related to position.
• Flexible with availability to work overtime and weekends as needed. Able to go the extra mile when needed to get the job done.
